Independence Day at VPMS Lohegaon
For a nation that has faced colonial rule for centuries, Independence day is the most important celebration in the national calender. For India 15th of August is that day… A day to pay homage to the martyrs. A Day to reaffirm our resolve to protect our precious freedom.
Apart from this, at VPMS Lohegaon we believe 15th of August is also a day to introduce the fascinating history of our country to our young minds, so that they grow up learning about and appreciate the efforts put in by our forefathers.
On Monday 15th of August, Independence day was celebrated in VPMS Lohegaon in presence of teachers and students. At 8am, the tricolour was hoisted by the Chief Guest, Dr Manoj Narwade,Trustee and Secretary Dr Vikhe Patil Foundation. After the morning assembly, , a short speech was given by Mr Aryan Anand of Std X to recall the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
This year, to acquaint the students with the important events from our history a tableau competition was held at VPMS Lohegaon to commemorate our 70th Independence Day. The four houses had been given four eras ,first- the Early British rule, second the freedom struggle, third the period from 1948 – 1990 and the last about the future of our country.This competition compered by the Head Girl K. Akila, was for students from std V to X. For the junior classes, students from Std I and II and students from std III and IV presented a tableau each.
The idea was to inculcate in the students, respect and values portrayed in Indian History. All the students participated enthusiastically & impressed everyone with their performances. The tableaux were judged by Mrs Manisha Joseph, Mrs Manjusha and Mrs Darshana Pawaskar. Sapphire House stood first in theTableau competition. Vote of thanks was proposed by the head boy Shashwat Ratna.
