Modern United Nation (MUN) Workshop
A three day MUN workshop was organized on 8th, 9th and 11th July 2016 at VPMS, Lohegaon. MUN stands for Modern United Nation, a simulation of United Nations. The main objective of the workshop was to focus on public speaking as well as to develop student’s interest towards international affairs.
The workshop was optional for students of grade 7 to 10. A total of 15 students participated in the workshop which was conducted by Mr. Muneeb Riaz, Chief Executive Officer, MUN World India. The first day of the workshop emphasized on building up the student’s confidence and learning to introduce themselves. On the second day, various games were organized to enhance the student’s spontaneity. The students also had debates and group discussion on various topics. The main objective was to teach the students to work in groups. On the third and last day of the workshop the students learned the skill of problem solving and later an activity based on the same was conducted. An MUN session was also conducted where the students represented various countries and discussed and debated on the Syrian crisis. The students were given a certificate of participation and completion of the workshop. The workshop was a wonderful experience for the students. They enjoyed the sessions and emerged more curious and interested in the current affairs of the country. The students learned to appreciate politics in a deeper sense and understand the problems in the real world. It was a great learning experience which helped the children enhance their public speaking skills, to think out of the box and be more confident.
