ONE NATION READING DAY
Scholastic India encourages schools across the country to celebrate the pleasure of reading, in which the students read silently for 30 minutes. The ONRD – One Nation Reading Day aims to instil good reading habits in children by motivating and rewarding them. This type of reading enables students to express themselves in a purely creative way.
In the winter term of each year, our school participates in the One Nation Reading Day (ONRD). The 2014 ONRD was held 28th November, 2014 on the school playground wherein the students from Jr. KG to Std 9 participated in the activity. The reading pledge was administered by the students after which a carnival of reading took place. The troop of VPMS band marched in to distribute the storybook and the reading session of 30 minutes began. The seniors read their favourite books whereas the young ones were told stories using colourful pictures by their teachers. The students made lovely and innovative book marks, wrote short passages on the ONRD experience. The students actively participated and enjoyed the activity!
