Republic day 2014-15
VPMS Lohegaon celebrates Republic Day every year to commemorate the date and moment when the constitution of India came into effect. The 66th Republic Day was celebrated with great pomp at Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Lohegaon. The event was graced by Dr. Ashok Vikhe Patil Chairman, Dr. Vikhe Patil Foundation and Executive Chairman of Pravara Rural Education Society.
The chief guest unfurled the tri-colour flag in the presence of the parents and the students on the School ground. Jyotsna of STD IX the Head Girl welcomed the Chief Guest and the gathering. The cultural programme consisted of a speech in English by Nidhi Suryavanshi followed by a patriotic song in Marathi by the students of STD II along with the students of STD I dressed up in different attire to showcase the various costumes of India. The students of Std IV recited a poem in English. The students of STD III sang a Hindi patriotic song with utmost passion and love for their motherland. It was indeed a commendable performance by our little ones. The students of Std V added colour to the programme with a dance which portrayed that more than the materialistic gifts, children need love and the valuable presence of their parents in their daily life.
The winners of the Skating and Karate competitions were given certificates by our honorable chief guest Dr. Ashok Vikhe Patil.
In his address, Dr. Ashok Vikhe Patil expressed his pleasure in witnessing the programme put up by the students. He said that we should value our freedom. He administered a pledge, written by Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam focusing on the welfare of the nation which begins by keeping the mother happy.
Arya Kochery of STD IX the sports captain proposed the vote of thanks. The day’s celebration came to an end with the distribution of sweets to the students. The 66th Republic Day was celebrated with full enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.
