Sports Day 2016-17
“Healthy mind resides in a healthy body.”
Keeping this in mind VPMS Lohegaon has always given sports its due importance. Sports is an integral part of our school’s curriculum. We believe in all round development of a child.
This year Sports day was celebrated on 17th, December 2016.The guest of honour for this event was Air Marshal (Retd) A.P. Garud. He has served Indian Air Force for 34 years and has an extensive career.
The program began with Lighting of Torch by our State and National Level Athletes. This was followed by the ‘March Past’ led by our sports captains Harsh Dayma and Snehaja Kadam. It was indeed a fascinating sight to see our smart and energetic students marching to the drumbeats and the captivating music played by our school band .This was a house wise competition, which was won by Sapphire House.
The marchpast was followed by oath taking to honour the spirit of sports by the students.Soon after began the races and relays. Students who took part in these races were cheered by enthusiastic members of their houses. There after the students of Grade 3 displayed Lezium drill. Their movements were rhythmic and well-coordinated. The students of Grade 4 presented different forms of Martial Art. Students of Grade 5 performed the Flag Drill with various formations. Students of Grade 6 displayed mesmerising Yoga. Their supple body and flexible movements enthralled the audience. After this, our students showcased their skills in gymnastics. The young gymnasts displayed their expertise in various forms of gymnastics which culminated in the students jumping across a ring of fire.This show of bravado left the audience speechless. .The penultimate program of the evening was the splendid performance by the students of Grade 6,7,8 who performed a breath taking torch drill. The highlight of the evening was the performance by the budding archers of VPMS Lohegaon which left the audience spell bound. Our students showed immense focus, determination and single minded devotion. After this, the Guest of honour Air Marshal A.P. Garud addressed the audience and gave away the prizes.Ruby house was the overall winner for this year’s activities. He also felicitated our sports teachers for their hardwork and dedication.The Head Boy Shashwat Ratna proposed the Vote of thanks and the programme ended with the National Anthem.
